Delta Arc consulting capability

Decision intelligence consulting

Decision intelligence is how an organization makes a hard choice on the record: the evidence visible, the assumptions named, the uncertainty quantified and the next action tied to a confidence level. Delta Arc builds that as a working system, not a report. You arrive with the decision, the research gets done, the evidence gets connected, and the system stays in the workflow where someone acts on it.

Definition

What decision intelligence actually is

Decision intelligence treats the decision as the unit of work rather than the data as the unit of work. It connects five things that are usually kept apart: the evidence available, the assumptions being made, the uncertainty in each, the organization's appetite for risk, and the action that each confidence level justifies. The output is not a chart. It is a decision that can be explained to someone who was not in the room, and reviewed later against what actually happened.

  • The evidence carries its source, its date and its confidence. A number nobody can defend does not enter the decision.
  • The assumptions are written down and separable, so a disagreement about judgment does not get argued as a disagreement about data.
  • The decision is recorded with its reasoning, so the next similar decision starts from what the last one learned instead of from zero.

Boundaries

What it is not

  • Not a dashboard. A dashboard reports state. A decision system takes a position on what the state justifies, and says what would change that position.
  • Not business intelligence. BI answers what happened and to whom. Decision intelligence answers what to do about it and at what confidence, which requires the assumptions and risk appetite that BI deliberately leaves out.
  • Not predictive analytics on its own. A forecast is one evidence stream. A decision needs the forecast, its error behaviour, the cost of being wrong in each direction, and the threshold at which action changes.
  • Not a model handed over as a deliverable. A model nobody operates decays. The system has to live where the work happens.
  • Not financial or investment advice. Delta Arc is not an investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial institution.

The operating model

Arrive with the decision. Leave with a system.

Delta Arc runs one model end to end, and it is the same model whatever the subject is.

01 · ARRIVE

Bring the decision, not a data request.

The first conversation establishes what is actually being decided, who owns it, and what evidence would change it.

02 · RESEARCH

Investigate at machine scale, under human direction.

Parallel agents gather evidence and contradict each other. A person sets the objective, judges the evidence and owns the conclusion.

03 · CONNECT

Join the evidence to where it has to land.

The systems, the people and the timing. Provenance is preserved, so every figure keeps its source and its date.

04 · ASSIST

Operate it, do not just deliver it.

The system is refined as the decision, the market and the organization change.

Delta Arc has built this model end to end before in another vertical: an independent industrial equipment reference where every published number carries the source and the date it came from. Same discipline, different subject. Here the subject is a business decision rather than a machine.

The operating problem

From scattered information to a working intelligence system

Complex decisions fail in a predictable way. Data, assumptions and risk preferences get mixed into a single argument, so the disagreement becomes unresolvable: nobody can tell whether they are arguing about a number, a belief or an appetite. Delta Arc separates those layers so leaders can see what is known, what is inferred, and what would change the decision.

  • Two teams reach opposite conclusions from the same data and cannot locate the disagreement.
  • A decision gets made and nobody can reconstruct why six months later.
  • A dashboard is consulted and then overridden by whoever has the strongest opinion.
  • The same question gets re-researched from scratch every quarter.

The engagement

What the work actually involves

The first engagement is a two-week intelligence diagnostic on one commercial decision. It is scoped on the call and priced against that scope, never before. It ends with a written finding.

THE DECISION

What is being decided, and by whom.

On what cadence, and what the cost of being wrong is in each direction.

THE EVIDENCE

What exists and what it can support.

Where it lives, how current it is, and its limits. This usually surfaces evidence the organization already owns and is not using.

THE GAP

What would have to be true to decide with confidence.

And what is missing between here and there.

THE BUILD

A build-ready scope, if warranted.

The smallest useful system, with the decision it serves stated first.

What you get is a written finding you can act on whether or not the work continues. If the answer is that no system is needed, the finding says so.

Evaluating providers

Five questions to ask anyone selling this

Decision intelligence is a crowded term and the work behind it varies widely. These questions separate a system from a slide deck, and they apply to Delta Arc as much as to anyone else.

  • Who does the work? Ask whether the person scoping the engagement is the person doing it, and what happens if they are not.
  • Where does each number come from? Ask to see a figure traced to its source and its date. If provenance is not tracked, the system cannot be audited later.
  • What happens when the evidence contradicts the recommendation? Ask how disagreement is handled, and whether contrary evidence is recorded or discarded.
  • Who operates it after handover? Ask what the system looks like in month six, and who maintains it.
  • What would make you say no? A provider who has never declined work is selling capacity, not judgment.

Expected outcomes

What the engagement produces

  • Visible assumptions, evidence and uncertainty
  • Comparable scenarios and decision thresholds
  • A repeatable record of how decisions are made
  • Evidence that carries its source, date and confidence

Questions

What Bronto investigates

  • What evidence would materially change the decision?
  • Which risks are acceptable, transferable or avoidable?
  • How should probabilities and scenarios be updated?
  • What action is justified at each confidence level?

Working outputs

What can be built

  • Decision model and evidence register
  • Scenario and sensitivity framework
  • Risk-tiered operating view
  • Forward-test ledger, so a signal is scored against what actually happened
  • Decision review and learning loop

Frequently asked questions

Questions this work should answer

What is decision intelligence?

Decision intelligence is the structured connection of data, evidence, models, uncertainty, risk and human judgment to improve how choices are made and reviewed.

How is decision intelligence different from business intelligence?

Business intelligence reports what happened. Decision intelligence takes a position on what it justifies, which requires assumptions, uncertainty and risk appetite that business intelligence leaves out by design. In practice business intelligence is an input to a decision system, not a substitute for one.

What does a decision intelligence engagement cost?

Scope is established on the first call and priced against it, never before. The first engagement is a two-week intelligence diagnostic on one decision.

How long does the first engagement take?

Two weeks. It is a focused diagnostic on one commercial decision, not an open-ended review.

Do you need our data before the call?

No. The first call is about the decision, not the data. What exists and what is missing is what the diagnostic establishes.

Is this financial or investment advice?

No. Delta Arc is not an investment adviser or financial institution. Decision systems and market information are provided for research and business purposes.

Can decision intelligence work with prediction markets?

Yes. Prediction-market information can be one evidence stream when its rules, liquidity, incentives and limitations are made visible.

Bring the decision. Leave with a written brief.

One 20-minute call establishes whether the problem fits. If it does, a two-week intelligence diagnostic on one decision, scoped on that call and priced against that scope, ending in a written finding you can act on whether or not the work continues. No deck, no retainer to start.
